Provide First Aid in An Education & Care Setting
Course Description
This course offers practical training for workers in education and care settings, empowering you to respond effectively to first aid emergencies while adhering to legal and workplace requirements, as well as the guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical bodies.
You’ll learn how to identify signs of illness or injury, access emergency services, and provide safe and effective first aid using action plans and available resources. This includes essential skills like CPR, defibrillation, administering an auto-injector for anaphylaxis, providing asthma medication, and using immobilisation techniques for situations involving envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and managing bleeding and shock.
Throughout the course, we’ll cover basic anatomy and physiology, as well as the differences in CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants. You’ll also learn how to manage a child or infant experiencing an acute illness and how to communicate important incident details to parents, caregivers, and emergency services.
Additionally, the course emphasises the importance of completing incident documentation and debriefing to enhance your response skills. We’ll also explore how to recognize psychological impacts, engage with children about their feelings, and seek help when needed.
