Provide First Aid
Course Description
In this first aid course, you'll receive thoughtful instruction and hands-on training that takes into account legal, workplace, and community considerations, along with the guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical bodies. You'll learn the essential skills and knowledge needed to recognize emergencies and provide immediate, effective first aid to anyone facing a sudden illness or injury.
We’ll cover important topics such as assessing the situation, ensuring safety, contacting emergency services, and utilising resources to deliver first aid. You’ll gain confidence in performing CPR, using a defibrillator, administering an auto-injector for anaphylaxis, providing asthma medication, assisting someone who is choking, and applying appropriate immobilisation techniques for conditions like envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. We’ll also address how to manage casualties experiencing non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn about basic anatomy and physiology, and how these relate to CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants. We’ll emphasise the importance of the chain of survival, how to report incident details clearly, and the value of reviewing experiences to enhance your skills and response times. Additionally, we’ll discuss recognizing psychological impacts and the importance of seeking support when needed.
